Maybe training Rover to fetch a beer didn’t work out – but soon you might be able to fetch one yourself while your dog enjoys a swim at a pet resort in Sacramento.

The Animal Den Pet Resort, 4060 Power Inn Road, hopes to offer beer and wine service to its human clients and has applied for an alcohol license with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, according to a post on the resort’s Facebook page. The service would be limited to public swim sessions on the weekends, and only people with pets who have the required paperwork and vaccinations would be allowed.

The resort hopes it will give owners a chance to relax and enjoy an alcoholic beverage “while your dog swims and you visit with other dog loving clients,” the post said.

Or, as commenter Marie Beeson put it, “So the owners can have a beer while their pets drink Bark-a-Ritas? Fabulous!”

It is expected to take “a few months” for the service to be available, according to the post.

Animal Den Pet Resort’s boarding business has grown by 67 percent since September 2015, owner Lisa Chafee recently told Sacramento Bee columnist Cathie Anderson.
