While food trucks often roll around town, this unique truck caters to pups, not people.

Embarked on a nationwide tour, the Good Stuff Pet Truck will stop in Old Sacramento from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. It will be at Waterfront Park, 1110 Front St., between K and L streets just south of the Public Market Building.

Four-legged visitors to the pet truck can get free treats and expert instruction from a dog trainer, said Robyn Caulfield, who is coordinating the tour. Their human companions can pose with their pets in a lounge area/selfie zone with dog-inspired backdrops and share those shots (with the hashtag #GoodStuffPetTruck) via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The idea behind the pet truck is to promote good pet nutrition and teaching dogs through positive reinforcement, Caulfield said. The tour is sponsored by American Pet Nutrition, makers of VitaBone dog biscuits and Supreme Source grain-free dog food.

Launched April 22, the tour started in Costa Mesa at America’s Family Pet Expo and has wound its way through Arizona, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Nevada.

Before its visit to Old Sacramento, the truck will make a lunch stop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Nugget Market, 130 Browns Valley Parkway, Vacaville. Other stops are planned in Daly City, San Bruno, San Francisco and San Jose this weekend and early next week before the Good Stuff heads for Salt Lake City, Chicago and summer stops on the East Coast.
