Krispy Kreme asked customers to vote on a flavor for glazed doughnuts. See what won
A national doughnut chain sought help in coming up with its next flavor.
Krispy Kreme gave online voters four choices: blueberry, caramel, lemon and maple. On Thursday, the restaurant announced lemon as the winner. Millions of votes were cast between Jan. 16-22.
Last year, the company turned its glazed doughnuts green for St. Patrick’s Day and created a chocolate glaze to celebrate the eclipse in August. However, this was the first time customers were given a say in the matter.
“In 2017, our fans responded with tremendous enthusiasm regarding how we innovated around our Original Glazed Doughnut,” Jackie Woodward, Krispy Kreme’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “To begin this year, we’re tapping that enthusiasm and mobilizing that engagement to make our fans full-fledged innovation partners.
“It’s an unprecedented step for Krispy Kreme as a brand and enhances what is already an awesome doughnut experience for our customers.”
The lemon glaze doughnuts will be available for a week this spring.
