Friday’s National Bagel Day and National Pizza Day. Hot Italian is celebrating both
In celebration of National Bagel Day, Sacramento’s long-awaited Solomon’s Delicatessen will present its first pop-up deli on Friday morning – in Davis.
From 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. (or until the bagels run out), Solomon’s will serve fresh bagels, lox and house-made schmears at its sister restaurant, Hot Italian, 501 First St., in Davis. And because Friday also happens to be National Pizza Day, Hot Italian will offer free slices of its most popular pizza – Cannavaro – with any food or beverage purchase. That pizza deal runs from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Work continues on Solomon’s permanent location, 730 K St. in downtown Sacramento near Golden 1 Center. Its K Street building was the home of Tower Records. Solomon’s name is a salute to Tower Records founder Russ Solomon. So is the deli’s motto: “No Bagels, No Life.”
Featuring traditional Jewish deli faire, the 3,000-square-foot deli is expected to open in early summer 2018. No date has been announced.
