The Bent Spoon, in Princeton, New Jersey, ranked No. 3. Katherine Anne Confections in Chicago and Word of Mouth Neighborhood Bistro in Salem, Oregon, trailed close behind.

Hot chocolate spots were identified within the business and food categories with a large concentration of reviews mentioning the phrase “hot chocolate.” The businesses were then ranked using several factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning the phrase.

Yelp included only two businesses per state for geographic diversity. All businesses on this list have a passing health score as of Nov. 7.
