Portland-based beer hall to open in downtown Sacramento with Northern California brews

A Portland-based beer hall is debuting in downtown Sacramento Friday and will exclusively feature Northern California beers — on tap.

Loyal Legion Beer Hall will open its doors Friday at 6 p.m. at 921 12th St.

The 55-foot bar “is enormous” said General Manager, Dustin Newsome in a phone interview with The Bee.

“No seat in the house is more than ten feet away from it,” he said.

The 99 beer options will include rare brews that are otherwise not available on draft anywhere in town, according to a news release.

Beer Manager and curator Tyler Easterling said to look out for the eight options from Knee Deep brewery in Auburn.

Originally from Portland, the company is opening one of their Loyal Legion branded stores in Sacramento because “it has such a beer community,” Newsome said. He intends for the hall to “stay in their lane” and not “cosplay as a cocktail bar.” The bar features a few cocktails, like the peach basil sour, that are made with fresh blended ingredients.

The menu has an emphasis on vegetarian and vegan options, with up to half of their pub menu plant based. For example, the “calamari” is made from locally sourced lions’ mane mushrooms.

Street and garage parking are available.

Hours throughout the week vary. Monday through Thursday, hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday it will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday is open 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
