A new coffee shop is opening in Curtis Park with pastries from its sister business, Doughbot
Naked Coffee opened a Curtis Park cafe on Friday morning, the first expansion since its new owners bought the local chain in 2021.
The coffee shop moved into a 1,600-square foot unit at 2901 30th St. in what was previously Bud & Sons Furniture & Appliances. It’ll be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
It serves typical Naked Coffee drinks made famous at other locations, such as the Kerouac (four shots of espresso and a splash of condensed milk and cream, shaken and poured over ice). The design is mid-century modern with a “loungey” feel, said co-owner Kyle Khasigian, including couches and work stations.
“Its a pretty rad space,” Khasigian said. “It’s a really mindful design in a way that’s true to our brand and comfortable.”
Khasigian and his brothers Kirk and Kevin bought Naked Coffee from founder Chris Pendarvis in 2021. The siblings also resuscitated the Southside Park doughnut shop Doughbot in August.
They’ll serve Doughbot doughnuts and pastries as part of a pop-up this weekend. They’re trying to figure out a delivery system to stock the new cafe consistently.
Naked Coffee’s roastery is in North Oak Park, and additional cafes are in midtown, downtown and East Sacramento, the last of which bears the name Tupelo Coffeehouse.
