Sacramento’s Farm-to-Fork Festival to merge with another food event

Come September, Sacramento’s marquee Farm-to-Fork Festival will merge with Terra Madres, an Italian food festival, as it makes its full-scale Sacramento debut.

At Visit Sacramento’s annual State of Tourism event Wednesday, President and CEO Mike Testa described the change as a necessary risk in the name of growing the region’s culinary reputation.

“Visit Sacramento’s farm and fork festival will step out of its comfort zone on Capitol Mall,” Testa said.

The combined event will take place both inside the downtown convention center, and outdoors on the surrounding streets, from Sept. 26-28.

Terra Madres held an abbreviated version of its event in Sacramento last year. It was “intriguing,” Testa said, “but candidly, a bit underwhelming.”

“There’s comfort in the familiar,” Testa said. “Change comes with intention, and often risk.”
