West Sacramento Farmers Market closes, cites insufficient foot traffic
The West Sacramento Farmers Market has permanently closed, according to a post on its social media on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
In the post, organizers thanked the market’s “amazing vendors, customers and community members for (their) support,” and said they were “grateful for the memories” created at the market.
Replying to a commenter on Instagram, a representative for the market cited insufficient foot traffic as the reason for the market’s closure.
The West Sacramento Farmers Market launched in 2024, initially at 1271 W. Capitol Ave. Organizers shuttered that market that September, and relocated to its current location in River Walk Park at 651 2nd St. in February 2025.
The market ran every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
It touted an eclectic collective of vendors with wares including cookies, lemonade, artisan coffee, flowers and fresh eggs, as well as household objects, garments, jewelry and child ID cards.
A social media post on Aug. 14 said the market would be “taking a short break” but that it would “be back soon.” The market never reopened.
