Here’s what opened and closed in and around Sacramento this spring
The Sacramento region has been filled with changes in the business and restaurant worlds, with a number of openings and closings this spring.
Here’s a partial look at the business landscape so far in 2026.
What businesses opened in Sacramento in spring 2026?
Range Midtown
In April, midtown welcomed a new addition to its fine dining scene with Range. Located at 1813 Capitol Ave., the restaurant serves classic American comfort food and cocktails, according to its website. Scott Kingston, senior vice president of Turton Commercial Real Estate, described the restaurant as “another reason to spend time in midtown.” Range is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Pastry Cat
A baked goods pop-up from the popular coffee shop, OffBeat, opened its first storefront in April. Pastry Cat arrived in East Sacramento moving into 533 53rd St. Owner Nariya Charoensupaya said she was inspired to open the cafe by her childhood love for dessert, and of course, cats. The cafe serves specialty cookies, with flavors like miso brown butter, matcha yuzu almond and Valrhona chocolate chip. Pastry Cat is open Fridays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Zanzibar Fair Trade
This Sacramento art gallery thought its time was over when it closed in Land Park in 2025. But in late April, the owners made an exciting announcement: Zanzibar Fair Trade is back. The art showroom and warehouse have resumed business by appointment at 450 Power Inn Road in Colonial Village.
68th Street Cafe
Located in Natomas, 68th Street Cafe is owned and run by an immigrant Vietnamese family. The cafe on 4261 Truxel Rd. serves affordable traditional Vietnamese cuisine, drinks and patries. You can pick up on of their banh mi sandwiches for $3.99, according to its menu. 68th Street Cafe is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
Ululani Hawaiian Shave Ice
Traditional Hawaiian Shave Ice from Maui, Hawaii had made its way to Sacramento. In May, Ululani Hawaiian Shave Ice opened its doors at 1013 Second St. in Old Sacramento. The shop’s flavor variety includes has a variety of shaved ice flavors, and more than 50 all gluten-free syrups, according to its website. Popular flavor combinations include Haleakala (milk and coconut), Sunset Beach (passion orange, mango and guava) and No Ka Oi (mango, coconut, and passion fruit). Ululani Hawaiian Shave Ice is open Mondays and Wednesdays through Sunday, Noon to 8 p.m. The shaved ice shop is closed Tuesdays.
Hidden Dumpling House
Hidden Dumpling House launched its third location in May at 3005 Freeport Blvd. in Land Park. Known for their dumplings, noodles and boba drinks, the restaurant’s first home was in Elk Grove in 2022. By late 2023, the popular dim sum spot opened a location in midtown on 2801 P St. Hidden Dumpling House in Land Park is open Mondays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Painting with a Twist
If you like a little vino while you learn a new hobby, a new paint and sip studio has opened in Rocklin at 4441 Granite Drive. Painting with a Twist, is part of a national chain, with its Sacramento location the only one in the region, according to its website. Classes are taught by professional artists, although you can also engage in DIY projects or host private parties. The BYOB studio is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and through Sundays from Noon to 8 p.m.
K&S Jewelers, LLC
Having replaced longtime Skalet Family Jewelers in Old Sacramento, K&S Jewelers opened in the historic Tehama Building in June. Run by master bench jewelers, Katy Jayne and Susan Rabinovitz, the two said the showroom will spotlight pieces from Little Relic, a jeweler on 1111 24th St. The showroom’s hours are seasonal, but for now K&S Jewelers is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
What closed?
Pasty Shack
After spending 74 years in Sacramento, the iconic Pasty Shack at 4746 J St. closed in April. The family-run small business previously served fresh baked pastries known as pasties. The savory baked pie was filled with vegetables and different types of meat. Owner Bobbie Mier told The Sacramento Bee that the business closed because of expensive operational costs and taxes.
Mansour’s Oriental Rug Gallery
Mansour’s Oriental Rug Gallery had a 50-year legacy in Sacramento, but said farewell to Sacramento in April. The family-run business had sold handmade Oriental and Persian rugs since 1979. The closure was prompted caused by increasing costs and the death of the original owner Mansour Yaghoubian, his son, Edmond Yaghoubian, told The Bee.
Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse
One of the mainstays harbors of the Howe ‘Bout Arden shopping center, Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, temporarily closed in May. The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February and has closed or rebranded some of its locations, according to previous Bee reporting.
Tiger Restaurant & Lounge
The popular nightclub, Tiger Restaurant & Lounge, locked its doors in May following an eviction notice. plastered on its door in May. RTB Hospitality, LLC of Roseville, which oversaw Tiger, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March, according to U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California documents. Court filings show the club owed $125,000 in past due rent
58 Degrees & Holding Co.
Popular midtown bar and restaurant, 58 Degrees & Holding Co., closed on May 31. The establishment, which served “high quality” wine, according to its website, opened more than 20 years ago on 1217 18th St. Management with 58 Degrees said it was an “incredible experience” running the bar.
Pressed Juicery
The developer of the business complex where it is located confirmed in June that Pressed Juicery will close on R Street when its lease expires in July. The juicery operated from the Ice Blocks shopping district at 1710 R St., a mixed-use redevelopment project. Pressed Juicery will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. until the R Street location closes. Two other locations remain open.
Rumble Boxing Rocklin
A Rumble fitness gym has closed in Rocklin on 5418 Crossings Drive. Having operated on the 5418 Crossings Drive for three years, the gym previously offered boxing, kickboxing, exhibition matches and resistance training. Rumble Boxing is a national chain. The Rocklin location was the only in the Sacramento region, with the closest in San Ramon, according to Rumble’s website.
