Wings, acai and curry pizza: These 17 restaurants opened in the Sacramento area in November

The year’s penultimate month brought a wave of new beginnings for restaurants around the Sacramento area, with openings in Yolo, Placer, Sacramento and El Dorado counties.

A majority of the openings were new locations for restaurants with an existing footprint in the region or Northern California, though more than a half-dozen fresh concepts emerged as well.

Additions to the brand

Curry Pizza House (3984 Douglas Blvd. #140, Roseville): This Bay Area-based fusion chain making its regional debut has traditional Indian dishes, classic pizzas and a combination of the two — think chili paneer pizza or achari chicken pizza.

Dos Coyotes Border Cafe (1200 Athens Ave., Lincoln): Bobby Coyote opened his first Southwestern restaurant in Davis in 1990; he now has 10 locations throughout Northern California, including this one in Thunder Valley Casino Resort.

El Favorito Taqueria (2215 Francisco Dr., El Dorado Hills): This casual Mexican restaurant with a wide-reaching menu, including seven breakfast items, also has locations in Sacramento, Rancho Cordova and Grass Valley.

Eureka (234 Gibson Dr. #100, Roseville): Eureka serves its gourmet pub food and brunch at 25 other locations, most of them in California but none of them in the Sacramento area.

Falafel Corner (4060 Douglas Blvd. #105, Granite Bay): Owner Saif Aslam opened his second Falafel Corner in downtown Sacramento earlier this year; the Granite Bay location marks his third.

Fire Wings (5400 Crossings Dr. #101, Rocklin): Fire Wings’ chicken bites can now be found at nine area locations, with two more planned for 2020.

Huckleberry’s (2745 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove): This Southern-inspired California chain also serves breakfast and lunch at Roseville and Natomas locations.

Mountain Mike’s Pizza (8211 Bruceville Rd. #135, Sacramento): The 3,800-square-foot Strawberry Creek shopping center store marks the 12th in Sacramento for Mountain Mike’s, known for its curly, crispy pepperoni slices.

The Pizza Press (2281 Del Paso Rd. #150, Sacramento): Father-son team Albert and Nick Romo opened the Southern California brand’s second fast-casual franchise in Natomas on Nov. 2 and plan to eventually operate eight in the Sacramento area.

See’s Candies (1361 West Covell Blvd. #117B, Davis): See’s, which sells chocolates, brittle and more dessert items out of seven Sacramento stores, opened its first Yolo County location in The Marketplace shopping center.

New to the scene

Colo’s Soul Food & Seafood (2326 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento): Kevin and Tamar McCree closed their south Sacramento soul food stand to open this full-scale restaurant named after Kevin’s grandmothers.

Nourish (401 Glenn Dr., Folsom): This locally-owned health bar in a Folsom shopping center sells nutrient-rich coffees, teas and smoothies.

Power Bowl (980 Ninth St. #150, Sacramento): This acai bowl stand can expect to draw much of its business from office workers in the surrounding 25-story Park Tower.

Royal Indian Cuisine (8055 Greenback Ln., Citrus Heights): Ajay Khadka, who has owned Northern Indian restaurants in San Francisco for 25 years, forayed into Citrus Heights earlier this month.

Tim’s Hawaiian BBQ (247 Third St., Davis): This student-friendly downtown Davis restaurant has tacos, bowls, burgers, musubi and barbecue plates.

Uncle’s Chinese Cuisine (8409 Elk Grove Florin Rd.): Uncle’s broad-reaching menu includes family feasts for groups of three to four, six to eight or 10 people.

Wok N Bowl (201 Harding Blvd. #F, Roseville) Wok N Bowl’s menu is mostly a mix of Chinese noodle dishes and Japanese soups such as udon and ramen.
