Elk Grove restaurant Journey to the Dumpling expanding to midtown Sacramento location
Journey to the Dumpling, a popular Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove, will open a second location in midtown Sacramento’s The Press Building.
A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page Monday afternoon showed The Press’ exterior with the caption “You guys have been asking and it’s finally coming along! Who can guess where Journey to the Dumpling 2 will be located?!”
The Press leasing manager Sabrina Sieng confirmed Journey to the Dumpling would open on the ground floor of the building at 21st and Q streets, which served as The Sacramento Bee’s parking garage until 2018. It’ll hold 253 apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom units when completed.
An F45 fitness center and a wine bar will be among The Press’ other retail tenants, Sieng said.
Journey to the Dumpling’s original location in the Laguna Crossroads shopping center has become a local favorite since opening in October 2016, thanks in large part to its flagship xiao long baos (soup dumplings).
A manager at the Elk Grove location didn’t immediately respond to The Bee’s request for comment.
