The Sacramento area averaged nearly one new restaurant per day in February. Here’s the list
The Sacramento region saw at least 25 new restaurants open in February, more than any of the last four months and an average of nearly one per day.
Eight places joined the scene in Sacramento, while Auburn and Rocklin added three new restaurants each, the most of any suburbs. A pair of restaurants opened in Roseville and Fair Oaks, while one opened in Elk Grove, Isleton, Granite Bay, Folsom, Woodland and Winters apiece.
These 25 restaurants opened in Sacramento, Yolo and Placer counties in February:
NEW RESTAURANTS IN SACRAMENTO COUNTY
18 Grams Coffee Roasters (1600 Ethan Way No. 30, Sacramento): 18 Grams now sells its coffee, tea and pastries in a Howe Bout Arden location in addition to the preexisting Elk Grove spot.
Caffe Italiano Ristorante (8112 Madison Ave., Fair Oaks): Techniques to make Caffe Italiano’s antipasti, pasta and secondi piatti will soon be taught at Italian cooking classes, according to the restaurant’s website.
Chasing Caroline Restaurant & Coffee (925 3rd St., Sacramento): Chasing Caroline replaced Sacramento’s Cafe & Brew with breakfast tacos and omelets in the morning and salads, sandwiches and mains for lunch and dinner.
Cuatros Amigos (2610 Gateway Oaks Dr. #140, Sacramento): Customers order tortas, tacos, bowls or other items on touch-screens at this South Natomas restaurant, which fries its own chips.
Daikon Korean BBQ (3636 N. Freeway Blvd., Sacramento): The couple behind Station 8, Station 16, Station 38 and Firehouse Crawfish opened their all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue restaurant and full bar on Feb. 3 in North Natomas.
Dos Rios Taqueria (6970 Sunrise Blvd., Citrus Heights): Dos Rios offers the normal taqueria slate of tacos and burritos plus a range of seafood dishes, catering and birria, pozole and menudo on weekends.
Iron Horse Tavern (460 Palladio Pkwy., Folsom): The Wong brothers added a second Iron Horse Tavern to their portfolio, which includes Mas Taco Bar, Cafeteria 15L, Mix Downtown and Public House Downtown (nee Firestone Public House) in addition to the midtown Sacramento restaurant and bar.
Jim’s Good Food (1420 16th St. No. 300, Sacramento): The leadership team behind Empress Tavern and Mother opened their diner-influenced American restaurant in midtown.
Kaidao (9679 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento): Kaidao took over for another Thai restaurant, Mai Thai Authentic Thai Cuisine, to serve street food-style skewers as well as curries, soups and rice dishes.
Lo-Fi (921 V St., Sacramento): Bryan Widener started his “rough-around-the-edges” lunch counter in Southside Park after nearly 20 years in the restaurant industry.
Manny’s Barzzeria (212 2nd St., Isleton): Manny’s is a breakfast spot, a pizzeria, a pasta house and a beer bar all rolled into one restaurant by the Sacramento River.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ (5040 Auburn Blvd. Unit B, Sacramento): This Hawaiian-inspired chain specializing in plate lunches is also planning locations in Crocker Village and Southgate Plaza, in addition to the new North Highlands site.
Roundhouse Deli (8450 Elk Grove Blvd. No. 200, Elk Grove): Roundhouse’s sandwiches, breakfast burritos and house-smoked tri-tip tacos are now available in Elk Grove in addition to the original Roseville location.
The Sandwich Barn (4884 San Juan Ave., Fair Oaks): The brick-walled sandwich-and-salad shop near North Ridge Country Club serves Certified Angus Beef.
Yolo County restaurant news
Carboni’s Ristorante Bar & Marketplace (316 Railroad Ave., Winters): Industry veteran Frank Carney’s Italian-inspired restaurant sits on the ground floor of Winters’ first full-scale hotel.
The Habit Burger Grill (1368 E. Main St., Woodland): The Irvine-based chain adds a California flair to the traditional fast food burger with ingredients such as avocado and pineapple and the occasional use of sourdough buns.
Auburn, Roseville, Rocklin openings
Bottoms Up Taproom (11768 Atwood Rd. No. 3, Auburn): Skewers of meat make up most of the food menu at this 16-tap bar with a variety of sake drinks.
Ding Tea (4060 Douglas Blvd. No. 108, Granite Bay): This 16-year-old Southern California-based boba tea chain also carries fried snacks such as popcorn chicken, french fries and crispy tofu.
Fahrenheit 250 BBQ (390 N. Sunrise Blvd., Roseville): The slow-cooking smokehouse closed in East Sacramento last year before reopening in Ettore’s Bakery & Cafe’s former Roseville location.
Falafel Corner (973 Pleasant Grove Blvd. No. 100, Roseville): Sajad Shakoor’s local Mediterranean chain started selling shawarma wraps, hummus plates and more at its eighth location earlier this month.
Impact Axe (4415 Granite Dr. No. 1000, Rocklin): Roseville-based Randy Peters Catering supplies the food at this new axe-throwing bar.
Pause Coffee House (2168 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin): This “off-the-grid” cafe, which also has a Fair Oaks location, replaced Origin Coffee & Tea and sells panini and baked goods as well as drinks.
Ramen 101 (6694 Lonetree Blvd. No. 200, Rocklin): Ramen 101 opened next to Blue Oaks Century Theaters on Feb. 6, marking its sixth location and first outside the Bay Area.
The Station Public House (750 Lincoln Way, Auburn): Sandwiches, salads and slightly unusual pub food like Cubano fries or a lemon hummus plate complement a deep beer list.
Wendy’s (2560 Bell Rd., Auburn): Auburn residents had to drive more than 20 miles for Wendy’s fresh, never-frozen beef before the national burger chain opened this month.
