Downtown Sacramento nightclub closes indefinitely, citing coronavirus
One of downtown Sacramento’s newest nightclubs is closing until further notice amid the spread of coronavirus, or COVID-19.
London opened at 1009 J St. in October, taking over for Parlare Euro Lounge across the street from The Citizen Hotel and Grange. In a Facebook post Thursday, the two-story club announced it was shutting down until the virus is controlled.
“In light of the recent (c)oronavirus warnings, London will be temporarily closed until this public health issue is resolved,” the post read. “We take seriously the well-being of our staff and patrons, and we look forward to spending more evenings with you when this is resolved. We are praying for those affected and will keep you updated when we return to business. “
Concern over coronavirus has led to the suspension, cancellation or postponement of the NBA, NHL and MLB seasons, not to mention festivals such as Coachella and South By Southwest. London is the first known restaurant or bar in Sacramento to close, though several in Seattle have done so over the last week.
Siblings Frank Yan and his sister Sandra Yan Crowell, both born in London, own the nightclub along with Yan Crowell’s husband Hendrick Crowell. Yan is also a partner in downtown streetwear store Kicx Unlimited.
