Popular casual restaurant in Folsom’s Historic District closes permanently
Whenever California restaurants fully reopen following the coronavirus pandemic, Sutter Street Grill won’t be among them.
The downtown Folsom diner’s temporary closure has become permanent, according to a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon.
“The decision was made with heavy heart. We want to thank our customers(family) for all of your support for all these years,” Sutter Street Grill’s post read. “We have made so many memories with you. Your waitresses, bussers and cooks will miss you all so very much. Please be safe and support you local businesses.”
Owner Lorna Lee Smart, a Folsom native, bought the restaurant at 811 Sutter St. in 1997, according to Gold Country Media.
Sutter Street Grill announced it would close for at least two weeks in a March 18 Facebook post as California’s shelter-in-place directive forced restaurants to pivot to takeout-only or cease operations. Known for carrying at least 20 varieties of omelets on its menu, it had 3.5 stars on Yelp after more than 500 reviews.
