Have you missed 33rd Street Bistro and Bistro 33’s dishes? Don’t fret — they’ll be rolling up to a Sacramento-area location soon enough.

33rd Street Bistro is returning to the local dining scene in food truck form, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant’s account Wednesday night.

“Hello everyone! We are so excited to announce 33rd Street Bistro is now on the go!” the Facebook post read. “All of the most beloved dishes from the Bistro are coming to a street near you! Follow us on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bistro33onthego/ to be the first to know where we will be next!”

Brothers Matt and Fred Haines kept 33rd Street Bistro running at 3301 Folsom Blvd. in East Sacramento for 25 years, but closed shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Sister restaurant Bistro 33 shut down for good in Davis a few months later, two years after the El Dorado Hills location did so.

The restaurants all had similar menus with a smattering of sandwiches, salads, flatbreads and dinner entrees. Customer favorites like The Rainier panini (roasted chicken, smoked mozzarella, caramelized onions and mango mayonnaise on toasted focaccia) and the Oregon Bleu Cheese salad with buffalo chicken will be offered from the food truck, according to 33rd Street Bistro’s post.

33rd Street Bistro’s property manager, Dowling Properties, had hoped to replace it with an Italian restaurant called Portofino. That deal appeared to fall through during the pandemic, when a restaurant called Brick Land Bistro put up signage around the exterior and set up a website, but Brick Land’s momentum has stalled too.

Matt Haines declined to comment on the new food truck, saying the 33rd Street Bistro owners were still working out the details of their truck. Dowling Properties did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
