Track 7 closes its East Sacramento kitchen, but keeps its neighborhood taproom open
CORRECTION: Track 7’s East Sacramento taproom remains open. The headline on an earlier version of this story incorrectly said the business had closed its doors. Track 7 closed its kitchen, but kept open the bar at the location.
The Other Side by Track 7 has scaled back in East Sacramento, closing down its kitchen but keeping open its neighborhood taproom.
The brewery released a statement on its website Monday to announce its decision to shut down the kitchen. The company cited difficulty in sustaining the business due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over these past years,” managers said in a statement. “We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and that we were able to succeed as long as we had and we could not have done it without all of you.”
The Other Side, which opened in July 2018 at 5090 Folsom Blvd., was the first sit-down establishment from a local brewery Track 7. It specialized in bar-friendly fare and lighter, vegetarian options like roasted cauliflower.
The pub’s focal point, however, was the rotisserie chicken, which rotated on spits throughout the restaurant. For drink options, the Other Side had Track 7 beers on tap, as well as select wine choices.
While food will no longer be served, Track 7’s East Sacramento Taproom will remain open, according to a marketing spokeswoman. The local brewery is working on bringing food vendors to the pub space in the future for people to eat as well as drink.
The Other Side joins a growing list of Sacramento area restaurants that have recently closed, including Yang’s Noodles and Roxy Restaurant and Bar.
The restaurant industry took one of the largest hits from the pandemic, with businesses struggling to keep up with higher food and labor costs — even as customers come back to dine.
