These 17 restaurants opened around the Sacramento region in October

A swanky cocktail lounge in the R Street Corridor. Old-timey burgers in Curtis Park. Build-your-own vermicelli bowls at a modern Southeast Asian spot in Placer County.

These 17 restaurants opened around the Sacramento region in October, from Davis to El Dorado Hills.

Acai Fresh (431 G St., Davis): Yolo Berry Yogurt owner Lee Pflugrath’s new frozen concept creates a base from organic acai berries and apple juice, then finishes bowls with strawberries, chia seeds, granola and other toppings.

Bollywood Pizza (6601 Folsom Blvd., Suite 100, Sacramento): Tandoori chicken, malai paneer and other Indian flavors top pies at this fusion-forward pizzeria, which opened Oct. 1 near Sacramento State.

Chick-Fil-A (1490 Blue Oaks Blvd., Roseville): Franchisee Ben Lavin opened his second Chick-Fil-A in Roseville on Oct. 3, adding the popular chicken sandwich chain to West Roseville’s rapidly-growing development.

Extreme Hummus (2320 Sunrise Blvd., Rancho Cordova): Farid and Shahnaz Akbarpour’s second Extreme Hummus location (the original opened in Citrus Heights a decade ago) serves kebabs and gyros as well as outlandish chickpea spreads involving artichoke, pesto and jalapeños.

Good Luck Lounge (1421 R St., Sacramento): Ace of Spades’ adjoined cocktail bar opened Oct. 4 in the R Street Corridor with Korean-inspired chicken wings, loaded sweet potato fries and other bar bites to accompany Gold Rush-themed drinks.

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream (8055 Madison Ave., Citrus Heights): This old-timey ice cream parlor founded in 1945 — it’s updated to serve dog-friendly frozen treats — opened its sixth area location on Oct. 8 in Almond Orchard shopping center.

Lucky’s Drive-In (2565 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento): Michael Feagins and Willow Eskridge’s retro burger bar, first opened in Washington in 2015, debuted its second location Oct. 3 in Curtis Park.

Saevory Kitchen (4789 Granite Drive, Rocklin): Brothers Kai, Lai and Lo Saechao’s fast-casual setup asks customers to design their own rice, vermicelli or salad bowls, or create banh mi with proteins such as lemongrass pork or brisket in thopezay (Iu Mien fermented soybean paste) barbecue sauce.

Shabu Shack (606 L St., Sacramento): Heading to Golden 1 Center some chilly fall evening? Stop by this Japanese hot pot den, which opened its fourth location Oct. 20 on the ground floor of the Frederic building.

Shipwrecked Tiki Bar (1510 16th St., Suite 300, Sacramento): University of Beer owners Melissa and Nate Yungvanitsait debuted their tiki bar concept in Davis last year; the “Paradise Island” iteration in downtown Sacramento includes food such as oysters on the half-shell, jerk shrimp skewers and crinkle-cut fries served with white truffle oil aioli.

Sunny Side (1221 19th St., Sacramento): Midtown brunch gets an Asian fusion lens at Sunny Side, which serves chicken and waffles with gochujang maple syrup, salmon Benedicts with spicy yuzu hollandaise and Koji dry aged rib-eye steaks.

Tallow Organic Grill (3905 Park Drive, Suite 100, El Dorado Hills): This wellness-focused eatery, opened on Oct. 18, uses no seed oils, gluten or plastic kitchenware to prepare pasture-raised barbacoa bowls or tri-tip tacos.

Taqueria La Puerta (4391 Gateway Park Blvd., Suite 650, Sacramento): Tacos rule at this easygoing Cali-Mex joint in North Natomas, from Baja-style fish to quesabirria with consommé.

Tasty Pot (707 2nd St., Davis): This Taiwanese-style hot pot chain’s fifth area location brought stews centered around kimchi dumplings, stinky tofu, curry pork and more to downtown Davis.

The Melt (2070 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento): This Campus Commons outpost in the Boulevard shopping center, opened on Oct. 3, marks the Melt’s second standalone area location for cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese and all other things cheesy.

Wabune Sushi (4040 Sunrise Blvd., Suite 140, Rancho Cordova): An extensive menu with bento boxes, sushi rolls and specialty items such as seared giant scallops in mango cream sauce have drawn customers to Sunridge Plaza shopping center since Wabune’s opening.

Wienerschnitzel (4855 Granite Drive, Rocklin): Franchisee Bal Son brought the world’s largest hot dog chain (known for chili cheese dogs in particular) to Rocklin on Oct. 17.
