Shake Shack is opening its fourth Sacramento-area burger spot. Here’s where and when
A popular New York-based burger chain is opening a fourth location in the Sacramento area.
Shake Shack is coming to Elk Grove after signing a lease for a 2,800-square-foot space at The Village, a new shopping center under construction on Elk Grove Boulevard between Big Horn Boulevard and Wymark Drive, as first reported by the Sacramento Business Journal.
Here’s all you need to know:
What is Shake Shack?
Shake Shack began as a hot dog stand in Manhattan in 2001.
According to the company’s annual report released in February, the fast food chain has expanded to more than 510 locations since 2004.
There are more than 330 U.S. locations in 33 states and the District of Columbia, and as well as nearly 200 international locations including spots in London, Shanghai and Mexico City.
Where will the new Elk Grove location be?
Kelly Rule, senior vice president of leasing for real estate developer Pappas Investments, said the contract with Shake Shack was signed last week. She’s excited for the shopping center to welcome the popular chain as a new tenant.
“They have kind of an exciting image,” Rule said. “Their food is really good. So, when we were thinking of merchandising another shopping center, we just felt like Shake Shack would be a good fit there. And they happen to be looking at Elk Grove, so it’s kind of a perfect match.”
The south county location is Shake Shack’s fourth restaurant in the capital region.
The first Shake Shack in Sacramento opened in 2019 at the Ice Blocks shopping center in midtown Sacramento. Another location opened inside of the Westfield Galleria mall in Roseville in 2020.
The most recent location opened last month in Folsom.
What’s on the Shake Shack menu? What are the prices?
Shake Shack is known for the classics: hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and milkshakes.
The fast food chain serves up 100% Angus beef burgers from cows humanely raised and grazed in the United States, the company’s website says. Patties are never frozen and contain no hormones or antibiotics.
A single Shackburger starts at $7.99 and goes higher based on signature meals and add-ons.
Considering fries on the side? Regular crinkle-cut fries are $4.49, while cheese and black Parmesan truffle fries are $5.99 and bacon cheese fries are $6.99.
Soft drinks start at $3.99, with lemonades ranging in price from $4.49 to $4.99. Prices increase based on drink size.
Signature shakes cost $6.49 to $6.99, for a regular. You can add whipped cream or make it a malt for 49 cents.
When will the Elk Grove restaurant open?
Shake Shack in Elk Grove still has a long way to go before patrons can dine inside.
Rule said the shopping center is still “under construction” and it may take another year for the burger chain to be ready to open its doors.
“(We’re) working on all the undergrounds and everything,” Rule said. “But we’ll be delivering space mid 2025. I don’t know how long it’s going to take them to build out their space, but I would expect them to open at the end of 2025 or early 2026.”
What else is opening at Elk Grove shopping center?
Rule said The Village shopping center will be anchored by Whole Foods Market, a natural and organic foods retail grocery store with more than 500 stores across the globe, their website said.
“Shake Shack is the most recent lease that we’ve signed for this project,” Rule said about the Elk Grove Village shopping center. “They’re going to join Mendocino Farms, NuYo Frozen Yogurt, and Yard House.”
According to the Pappas Investments brochure for The Village, Shake Shack is expected to be next door to NuYo Frozen Yogurt.
Other expected tenants are Pet Food Express, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union and a coffee shop that has not yet been named, according to Pappas officials.
