Mikuni to open its 10th spot in Sacramento-area shopping center. Here’s when

An iconic local chain of sushi restaurants is opening its 10th location — its first in El Dorado Hills.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar held a soft opening for its El Dorado Hills Town Center location on Monday and Tuesday, a Facebook post from the Mikuni company account showed.

The new restaurant, at 4361 Town Center Blvd., Suite 111, is set to open Wednesday, according to the location’s Google Maps listing. It is neighboring Boring Rose Brewing Co. and Thai Paradise EDH in the middle of the El Dorado Hills Town Center.

According to previous Bee reporting, the El Dorado Hills location is replacing Aji Japanese Bistro, which closed its doors nearly a year ago because of “rising costs.”

The new restaurant’s opening is the first for Mikuni since operator and “chief dreaming officer” Taro Arai announced in February that the sushi chain his family has owned since 1987 was set to be acquired by a Tokyo-based conglomerate, according to earlier Bee reporting.

The Bee previously reported that Vanshow California, a subsidiary of Pan Pacific International Holdings, bought the Mikuni Restaurant Group and was in the process of closing the acquisition.

The deal is slated to close by the end of June.
