Ghost kitchen operation closes low-performing Natomas outpost

Ghost kitchen operation Local Kitchens permanently closed its Sacramento location in early September after a year in business.

The food hall chain with locations across California shut down one of its three Sacramento-area locations, at 2610 Arena Blvd., Suite 110, in Natomas Crossing, on Sept. 9.

Christine Ferris, vice president of marketing at Local Kitchens, said in an emailed statement that the decision to close the Natomas outpost was due to poor performance relative to other locations.

“Closing it was a difficult decision, but a necessary step as we focus resources on stabilizing the company and setting up the rest of our restaurants for success,” Ferris wrote.

Local Kitchens opened its Natomas location in March 2024 with six food options, The Bee previously reported. The Sacramento kitchen featured food and drinks from Boba Guys, Nash & Proper, Square Pie Guys and Milk Bar, as well as dishes from Local Kitchens’ partnership with celebrity chefs Rick Martínez, Einat Admony, Tuệ Nguyen and Alvin Cailan.

The two remaining capital region locations are at 500 First St., Suite 13A, in Davis and 10357 Fairway Drive in Roseville. The chain has seven locations elsewhere in California.
