Journey to the Dumpling announces plans to expand in the Sacramento area

A popular Elk Grove dumpling restaurant is opening a third location in the capital region next year.

Journey to the Dumpling will be opening in the Folsom Palladio, according to a social media post Monday afternoon. The new Folsom outpost joins two existing restaurants, in midtown Sacramento and Elk Grove.

The restaurant did not share further details about an opening date or its new address in the social media post, but owner Yvonne Tan told ABC 10 Monday that the 5,000-square-foot eatery will open in the second half of 2026.

The Chinese restaurant has gained a loyal following in the region for its signature steamy xiaolongbao soup dumplings, noodle plates and soups, dim sum options and more.

Tan and her husband, Chris, debuted Journey to the Dumpling in October 2016 at Elk Grove’s Laguna Crossroads, 7419 Laguna Blvd., Suite 180, where the flagship still resides. Its midtown Sacramento spot at 1714 21st St. launched in November 2023 after a three-year delay, according to previous Bee reports.
