Sacramento airport welcomes local coffee and new restaurant options

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) recently announced the opening of three new dining and coffee businesses in Terminal B.

Temple Coffee, Nixtaco, and BAWK! by Urban Roots are the latest in a sweeping series of openings that began in November of last year, in what SMF called “a broad revitalization initiative for the airport’s dining and concessions offering.”

In February 2024, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously for the approval of new dining options at the airport, with some replacing existing businesses or occupying long-vacant spaces. Of the prior existing eateries, only a few remain, such as Vino Volo in Terminal A and Chocolate Fish on Level 1 of Terminal B.

The first of the new concessions to open, in November 2025, was West Coast Sourdough Deli in Terminal A. Many of the new options are well-known local restaurants. “We want people to have a sense of place when they visit our airport,” said Lindsay Myers, SMF’s public information officer. “We wanted some of those iconic Sacramento brands.” Several new restaurants, however, are currently operating under special hours during their soft openings.
