Former Giants manager Dusty Baker opens winery tasting room in Sacramento suburb

Baker Family Wines, the five-year-old winery co-owned by Sacramento native and former San Francisco Giants manager Dusty Baker, opened its West Sacramento tasting room on Thursday.

The winery opened at 2568 Industrial Blvd, Suite 120 next to Bike Dog Brewing Co.’s brewery. Its tasting room will be open from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, according to Bakery Family Wines social media posts.

Baker Family Wines opted to move its production facility from San Francisco-based Treasure Island Wines cooperative to the 3,000-square foot West Sacramento building in July, the Sacramento Business Journal reported. The company had already planned to open a tasting room in that space.

Winemaker/partner Chik Brenneman, a former UC Davis faculty member and area industry veteran, sources grapes from Baker’s estate as well as other Northern California vineyards. The winery’s website lists three types of syrah, two Zinfandels, a Sauvignon Blanc, a proprietary white and a proprietary red, priced from $19 to $35.

A Del Campo High School alumnus, Baker played for both the Giants and Oakland Athletics over his 16-season MLB playing career, most of which was spent with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. He also managed the Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds over his 22-season managerial career, and rejoined the Giants last year as a special advisor to CEO Larry Baer.
