A Bay Area police department is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of shooting his pregnant ex-girlfriend in the head, and authorities believe he might be hiding in the Central Valley south of Sacramento.
The Pacifica Police Department, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, is looking for Ricardo Leo Colindres, 28, who is wanted for attempted murder and attempted kidnapping.
Nearly three years ago, on April 27, 2016, Colindres allegedly tried to kidnap his ex-girlfriend at the Casa Pacifica Apartments in Pacifica, and then shot her in the head. She was eight months pregnant at the time.
The woman recovered from the shooting and identified her attacker for police, said Capt. Christopher Clements of the Pacifica Police Department. She later gave birth to a baby boy.
Colindres fled the scene and has not been seen since.
He is described as 5 foot, 5 inches and weighing about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, though “Colindres knows he is wanted and may have altered his appearance,” police said in a news release.
“Every year about this time, we put this back in the public eye because we need some leads,” Clements said. “We haven’t had any tips on any sightings in more than the last 12 months.”
Before the shooting, Colindres was living at a family home in Brisbane in the Bay Area, Clements said. He has family in the areas of Lodi and Burson in the Central Valley south of Sacramento. He is also reported to frequent the Las Vegas area.
He has been featured in Northern California’s Most Wanted.
The gun used in the shooting has not been recovered, and Colindres is considered armed and dangerous.
