Interactive map: How many homes are for sale in every Sacramento-area ZIP code

A real estate market’s level of competition can often be determined in part by how many homes are for sale.

The Sacramento region has struggled with inventory for nearly two years. Not nearly enough homes have been placed on the market, creating intense demand, bidding wars and a market favoring sellers.

The interactive map below shows how many homes were listed for sale last month in nearly every ZIP code in the Sacramento region compared to six months prior. The data is provided by real estate firm Redfin and automatically updates every month.

Inventory numbers are available in the map for most of the Placer County suburbs, Elk Grove, Folsom and the El Dorado County foothills.
