Curious about the hype around a new Sacramento Costco? Here’s how to get in on it
With a 160,000-square foot Costco set to open in Natomas, the Sacramento area will soon be a discount warehouse hub with a total of 10 locations in the capital region by 2023.
Social media lit up with the news announced by Sacramento City Councilwoman Angelique Ashby.
“I might save time driving to this one rather than braving the onslaught at the Roseville Costco,” said one user on Reddit, echoing the sentiment of others who travel to the Exposition Boulevard, Woodland, Arden Arcade and Rancho Cordova locations for the staples and plenty of samples.

What does Costco offer that other stores don’t?
Costco is known for bulk food, which can be helpful for families or individuals on a budget. But that’s not all it has to offer.
It also has:
- Food courts
- Car services
- Optical and hearing services
- Pharmacies
- Gas stations (although no station is planned for Natomas)
The catch? It’s for members only.
What are my personal membership options?
GOLD STAR MEMBER: $60 per year plus tax
As a gold star member, you can shop online and in all Costco warehouses. The membership includes two cards, one for you and for someone in your household.
And if for some reason you no longer want to shop at Costco, your membership would be canceled and your membership fee will be refunded back to you.
EXECUTIVE MEMBER: $120 per year plus tax
With an executive membership, you get all the perks from the standard gold star membership.
But you also receive additional benefits and discounts on Costco services, a monthly magazine and an annual 2% reward — up to $1,000 on qualified Costco purchases.

Can I upgrade my membership?
If you want to upgrade to an executive membership, the fee is an additional $60 per year. The upgraded amount will be prorated based on the months remaining in your current membership.
Purchases made before upgrading are not eligible for the 2% reward. At your next membership renewal, you will be billed a total of $120 for the executive membership.
