Six-story hotel proposed for midtown Sacramento block where a pharmacy closed this year
The ever-changing neighborhood surrounding the Sacramento Convention Center could be getting another large hospitality project.
Sacramento-based architecture firm HRGA has submitted an application to the city of Sacramento for a 154-room hotel at the corner of 17th and K streets in midtown.
The six-story hotel would stand two blocks from the revamped SAFE Credit Union Convention Center and the site of a proposed 28-story hotel tower.
An operator for the hotel has not been determined, but “the developer is in negotiations with major hotel brands to determine the best fit for the site,” according to a project description included in a planning application filed with the city. A lounge and bar would face K Street, according to the application documents.
A CVS pharmacy at the site closed earlier this year. That building would be torn down to make way for the hotel, according to the project application.
