US Foods to shut down West Sacramento facility, lay off 118 workers

Layoff notices

US Foods, the Illinois-based food service distributor, will close a facility in West Sacramento, laying off 118 workers.

The company notified the state earlier this month that it would close the site, at 3045 Mulvany Place, later this year. A portion of the layoffs will take effect in April, but some employees will continue to work at the site as the company transfers operations to nearby sites. The facility is expected to fully close in November.

The company decided to close the site after re-evaluating its local distribution footprint, said US Foods spokesperson Sara Matheu.

“Decisions like this are never easy and we will maintain a focus on supporting impacted associates as they transition over the next year,” Matheu said in a statement. “We do not expect customer disruptions as we transfer operations to neighboring distribution centers where our customers will have access to a larger product assortment.”
