Six Sacramento-area Walmarts are getting upgrades, remodels. Which ones?

Six Walmart in the Sacramento area and neighboring regions will undergo remodeling in the next year, which the retailer says will expand and provide more jobs opportunities.

These sites are included in Walmart’s plan to improve 650 stores across the country. Over the next 12 months, the following locations will be upgraded, according to the company:

  • 1400 Lead Hill Blvd. in Roseville
  • 10470 Twin Cities Road in Galt
  • 1250 East Gibson Road in Woodland
  • 6005 Madison Ave. in Carmichael (Walmart Neighborhood Market)
  • 2700 Marconi Ave. in Arden Arcade (Walmart Neighborhood Market)
  • 10355 Wicklow Way in Martell, Amador County

The remodels are part of Walmart’s “Store of the Future” initiative first announced in January 2024, and the company recently shared its lists of stores being upgraded for some states, including California. These new facilities will include a sustainable design, according to a news release from Walmart U.S. These new stores will have increased energy-efficient equipment and lighting. Walmart U.S. also stated it is developing electric vehicle fast-charging stations.

Regarding its current stores, Walmart said this remodel will expand its “product selections and innovative technology” for associates.

“We’re proud that improving our stores also has a tangible impact in the communities we serve,” John Furner, the president and CEO of Walmart U.S., said in a prepared statement. “What a win it is to invest in America, grow our business and move toward a more sustainable future — all at the same time.”
