Downtown Sacramento hotel project extended again, documents say
The city recently extended entitlements for a proposed, 14-story hotel project downtown, according to public filings.
The project, located at 1116 9th Street between the Downtown Commons and the Capitol, was approved in July 2020, but has received two other extensions.
The project would include 265 hotel rooms and 61 apartments, according to the original planning documents.
The original entitlements for the “Capitol Hotel and Apartments” would have expired in 2023, but the city adopted an emergency ordinance during the pandemic, extending entitlements for one year. Then the project’s proponents requested another extension in 2024, carrying it into this year.
The extension, first reported by the Sacramento Business Journal, was granted April 15, according to the filing. It is set to expire in July 2028.
The applicant is listed as an LLC registered to the address of Venture Oaks Real Estate Group, based in Sacramento’s Gateway Center neighborhood, and the firm’s CEO is listed as the key contact.
The firm’s CEO, Eva Hill, said in an email Monday that Venture Oaks is putting together funding for the project.
