National clothing retailer, Burlington, is coming to Carmichael

The national discounted clothing retailer, Burlington, is coming to Carmichael.

Burlington, which sells an array of clothing, accessories and home decor, is moving into the Crestview Village shopping center between Manzanita Ave and Winding Way.

The space will occupy 20,879 square feet, taking up a large amount of existing vacant space in the center, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

Burlington joins a number of other businesses in Crestview Village, including Panda Express, FoodMaxx, Five Below, Sally Beauty and Big 5 Sporting Goods.

Originally known as Burlington Coat Factory, Burlington now has 1,000 stores across the country, according to its website. There are six Burlington locations in Sacramento County, including locations at

  • 3611 North Freeway Blvd. in Gateway Park
  • 1596 Ethan Way Sacramento in Arden Arcade
  • 3615 Elkhorn Blvd. in North Highlands
  • 5601 Florin Road in south Sacramento
  • 9175 E Stockton Blvd. in Elk Grove
  • 6145 San Juan Ave. in Citrus Heights

The store’s website did not list an opening date for the new store, nor did it list job postings yet specifically for this store.

Burlington first began in 1972 in Burlington, New Jersey as a family-owned business selling discount priced coats out of a factory building, according to the company’s website.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Burlington opened up 29 more stores and expanded its merchandising. By 2012, 500 Burlington stores were opened nationwide, and the store rebranded as “Burlington” two years later.
