Sacramento-founded thrift store opens new location in Citrus Heights

A Sacramento-area thrift store is expanding, launching a location in Citrus Heights this summer.

Pacific Thrift Store has opened at 7424 Greenback Ln., selling clothing and furniture. This is the second Pacific Thrift within Sacramento County, according to the store’s website.

Pacific Thrift first started in North Highlands at 6101 Watt Ave. in 2013, according to the business’s website. The store is owned by the Pacific Coast Slavic Baptist Association, its website reads. The association, which is headquartered in West Sacramento, consists of 32 churches across five states. Sales from the thrift store are donated directly to widows, immigrants and refugees in the Sacramento area and internationally.

“Pacific Thrift Store organizes family and youth camps for underprivileged children and their families,” its website reads. “With initiatives spanning various countries, including Ukraine, Spain, and Russia, among others.”

Vasiliy Stupin, the vice president of PCSBA, said the organization is excited to be in Citrus Heights. Pacific Thrift is a mission-driven retailer of the non-profit.

“The store itself was opened to give donated items a second life,” Stupin said. ” (To) give people an opportunity to have good quality items to purchase, create local jobs, and invest back into the community.”

The Citrus Heights location is larger than the original in North Highlands, Stupin said. Describing it as a “step up,” he said the store will offer more services.

“Every dollar generated by the store is dedicated to mission initiatives, making a positive impact both locally and globally,” Pacific Thrift website reads. “Your involvement with Pacific Thrift Store, through donations, shopping, and volunteering, directly contributed to these noble efforts.”

The business will replace the 99 Cent Only store, which closed on Greenback Lane in 2024. The shutdown was the result of a nationwide closure of more than 300 of those stores, according to past Sacramento Bee reporting.

Pacific Thrift is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays. The store is closed Sundays.
