For 204 days, a “sweet, loving” dog waited at a California shelter.

In her time at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley, the Rottweiler mix, Janet, captured hearts, Riverside County Animal Services said in an April 29 Facebook post.

“She became a favorite among our staff and volunteers, always greeting us with a wagging tail and hopeful eyes,” the shelter said.

Despite the waiting, “Janet never gave up hope,” the shelter said.

Then, more than half a year after she arrived at the shelter, her “big day finally came.” She was finally adopted, according to the shelter.

The shelter said the moment she walked out the doors, “head held high, heart full, and tail wagging,” was one they wouldn’t soon forget.

“She’s now off to a life full of cuddles, adventures, and all the love she’s waited so patiently for,” the shelter said.

Jurupa Valley is about a 45-mile drive east from Los Angeles.
