Bus system used by Disneyland visitors to close. Nearby city works to replace it
A nearby city plans to provide buses from 10 local hotels to Disneyland as a bus system serving millions of theme park visitors prepares to close its doors.
The Anaheim Resort Transportation system will shut down for good March 31, The Sacramento Bee previously reported. The service, which opened in 1995, served 8.2 million people in 2024.
The city of Garden Grove announced plans on Friday to provide a replacement bus service to 10 hotels in the city, which is about 5 miles south of Anaheim.
The service will begin in the last week of March and will be financed by a charge to the hotels, the city said.
Three routes will operate throughout the day with “frequent” service to Disneyland Resort, officials said.
Participating hotels are:
- Sheraton Garden Grove – Anaheim South
- Hyatt Regency Orange County
- Embassy Suites by Hilton Anaheim South
- Delta Hotels by Marriott Anaheim Garden Grove
- Anaheim Marriott Suites
- Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove
- Homewood Suites by Hilton Anaheim-Main Gate Area
- Residence Inn Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove
- Great Wolf Lodge Southern California
- Hampton Inn & Suites Anaheim/Garden Grove
Anaheim city officials have said they also are looking at replacements to the system, and the Disneyland Resort said it is monitoring the situation.
