Need a hand voting? Our California 2026 primary voter guide is here to help

When it comes to politics, it’s rough out there: There’s no clear favorite for governor in California’s top-two primary on June 2, and the list of statewide, congressional, judicial and local races and measures is seemingly endless.

Don’t worry, The Sacramento Bee, The Fresno Bee, The Modesto Bee, the Merced Sun-Star and The Tribune of San Luis Obispo have you covered.

We recently published our comprehensive voter guides, which include candidate information, voter-registration information, maps and, in many races, candidate endorsements made by our McClatchy California editorial board. The board’s endorsement process is walled off from the newsroom, so it doesn’t influence our reporting. We see endorsements as a public service — regardless of whether you disagree with the board’s opinion.

Our voter guide stories also delve into who’s funding the races, and in some cases include searchable campaign-finance graphics created by the nonprofit statewide news organization CalMatters.

Each of our five guides starts broadly with the governor’s race, as well as other statewide and congressional races, before filtering down to local contests. Here’s how to find each guide:

Sacramento: Go to sacbee.com/voter-guide

Fresno: Go to fresnobee.com/voter-guide

Modesto: Go to modbee.com/voter-guide

Merced: Go to mercedsunstar.com/voter-guide

San Luis Obispo: Go to sanluisobispo.com/voter-guide at the top of the page

This type of deep dive into elections doesn’t happen without subscriber support. If you’re not a subscriber already, go to sacbee.com/subscribe, fresnobee.com/subscribe, modbee.com/subscribe, mercedsunstar.com/subscribe and sanluisobispo.com/subscribe to support our local journalism.
