Video: This is Paradise 5 years after California’s worst wildfire raged through the town
Five years after the Camp Fire destroyed most of Paradise, old, new and former residents of the northern California town talked to The Associated Press about how the community is doing now and what it was like before the historic wildfire.
The blaze in the Sierra Nevada foothills killed 85 residents and destroyed 11,000 homes on Nov. 8, 2018.
Some 26,000 people who lived there were displaced, and only about 2,400 homes have been rebuilt, AP reported. More than 9,000 people now call Paradise home.
It was the most destructive wildfire in California’s history.
Many of the new residents are families with young children, while numerous others have not been able to move back because they could not afford it, the video above shows.
