Riosa Fire burns nearly 50 acres of vegetation on western edge of Placer County
A vegetation fire that briefly prompted evacuations in Placer County was being contained late Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out around noon on Sunday along Sheridan Lincoln Boulevard, south of the community of Sheridan, leading Cal Fire to order evacuations between Ranch House Road and Riosa Road. Those have since been lifted.
As of 2:54 p.m. the fire had burned about 49 acres and was 20% contained, according to Cal Fire updates. Firefighters stopped forward progress of the fire by 1:43 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
