Sacramento will host citywide clean-up day for Earth Day. Here’s how to join
The city of Sacramento is celebrating Earth Day on Saturday with a citywide clean up.
Called the Great Sacramento Clean-Up, the events at nine different community location and waterways are where residents can show their love to the planet by picking up litter.
When and where are the events?
The city designated nine parks, creeks and streets throughout Sacramento for the clean-up.
Each activity will typically take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. You can go to each of the event’s website to find out more information about responsibilities, directions and tips.
Florin Road from Franklin Blvd. to 24th Street, and Morrison Creek: Meet at 5501 66th Ave., Suite 200
Hagginwood Park: 3271 Marysville Blvd.
Elvas Avenue and 65th Street: Meet at 6720 Folsom Blvd.
Sutter’s Landing Regional Park: 20 28th St.
Morrison Creek at Logan Street: A half-block south of Lemon Hill Avenue
Sacramento River Levee at Miller Regional Park: 2801 Marina View Drive
Sacramento River Levee at the Prominade: Meet at Front and O streets
Matsui Park and Sacramento River Levee at Matsui Park: 450 Jibboom St.
Sacramento River Parkway: Meet at Garcia Bend Park and the nearby levee
How to sign up
Volunteers can pick an event and sign up online on the HandsOn Sacramento website.
Get free transportation
According to the city’s website, there will be free transportation provided by the Sacramento Regional Transit on Earth day. Volunteers can get free bus and light rail rides.
Be sure to bring sunscreen, water and snacks, and wear appropriate clothing. Tools for clean-up will be provided at the events.
