‘Black in Sac’ 10/07/21: Here’s your weekly list of events created by Black Sacramentans

We are looking forward to covering a week’s worth of events from Thursday to the following week’s Wednesday. If you have recurring events, let us know and we’ll feature them in each release.

Your submissions are appreciated, as we wish to continue to provide ways to enjoy Sacramento.

Here’s some of what’s happening in the city through the week of Oct. 7 through Oct. 13. Check out some activities and things to do around Sacramento.

Heal and Rebuild Collective presents: Teen Summit

Every Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m, there is a gathering for teenagers assembled at 7000 Franklin Boulevard, suite 1000.

The event is called Teen Summit. It’s for youth between the ages of 13 to 19.

The Heal and Rebuild Collective is determined to bring teenagers together through food, music, fun, and topical discussions.

This is an opportunity to get your teen out of the house, away from their phone, away from the video games and into a space that is engaging and empowering.

This event is also sponsored by nonprofit organization, Hooked on Fishing, Not To Violence.

Tiger’s “Purr” Thursdays

Tiger Bar located at 722 K St is a taste of Sacramento coming together in one spot to enjoy good vibes.

They have reinvented nightlife in Sacramento with their installments of “Tiger After Dark”. Every Thursday is “Purr” Thursdays, an event that is driven by women, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. This Thursday, sounds will be curated by DJ Eddy and DJ Genetixx.

They are also open on Fridays and Saturdays, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., where the band, Hayez, will perform this weekend.

ABAS Flourish in the Fall

Always Be About Something (ABAS) Clothing is inviting the city out to their Friday night event “Flourish in the Fall”. Attendees are encouraged to dress in formal attire, as they celebrate 10 years of business, growth, and more life.

The formal event will be held on Oct. 8 at the Mack Powell Event Center, located at 2003 Howe Avenue.

ABAS Clothing will use the event as a means to launch their Fall collection, “Flourish”.

The event is from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

There will be hors d’oeuvre, drinks, music, and vibes to go around. General admission tickets are $20 and VIP tickets are $35.

Eighty-Eleven Bar and Grill

Eighty-Eleven Bar and Grill, located at 8011 Florin Road, is hosting “The Pink Party” on Friday Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.

They have a different theme every Friday. On Saturdays, they have “Grown and Sexy” Saturdays.

On Sundays they have free entry for their “$7 Dollar Sundays” where guests can enjoy the Sunday NFL games with premium drinks for $7.

They have food prepared by “The Oxtail King” Mr. Gravy or “thekitchen916” on Instagram. He will be on site from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, he will be on site from noon to 8 p.m.

Taylor’d 2nd Saturdays

Taylor’d Mind Studios is back presenting Taylor’d 2nd Saturdays.

Every second Saturday of the month at Florin Square, located at 2251 Florin Road.

Taylor’d Mind Studios will host local artists who will perform on Oct. 9, from noon to 6 p.m.

There will be performances from Antwon Vinnie, Tyberious, Zahirah, Elijah Jaron, Betty Masenqo, Gabe the Fourth, Yumz Awkward, and Tone.

The band Hayez will also be featured as a part of the show. This is a free event.

Bless Child Neighborhood Association’s Block Party

Bless Child Neighborhood Association is hosting a block party on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will be held at 7572 29th Street.

This event is free and open to the general public.

Vendors and sponsors are strongly encouraged to inquire.

Dipped N Color Virtual Paint Party

Dipped N Color is hosting a virtual paint party to celebrate their one-year anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Register for the event through the link provided here. They will ship you two canvases, two paint palettes, and two paint brushes.

The event is $35, shipping is calculated at the checkout. All standard shipping rates apply.

BaseOneFM x Bawk! Presents Sunday Service

DJ-quartet, BaseOne.FM and Bawk, by Urban Roots have partnered together as their Bizarre Market meets Sunday Service in a weekly brunch event, every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The R street district is getting the party started on Sunday with sounds by ‘Aramii and BaseOne.FM. It’s becoming one of the best Sunday vibes in the city.

This Sunday, on Oct. 10, check out different brunch items and enjoy the brunch vibes at Bawk, brought to you by some of your favorite DJs.

Bawk is located at 1409 R Street.

Backyard Boogie Day Party & Pop Up Event

Backyard Boogie is a day party and pop up event on Sunday Oct. 10, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This is a R&B, Neo-soul type of vibe, featuring your local businesses, food, and drink vendors. Some of the food vendors that will be there are House of Soul Rolls, Unique’s Soul, and Lici’s Sweets.

There will be sounds by DJ Kay Boso.

It’s all happening at the Brickhouse Gallery, located at 2837 36th Street in Sacramento.

Naija Boy Taco Tuesday at Ro Sham Beaux

The Naija Boy Taco Tuesday is a weekly event at Ro Sham Beaux, located at 2413 J Street.

Rasheed Amedu is bringing West African flavor to Mexican cuisine every Tuesday, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There will be Naija vibes and natty wine when you dine this upcoming Tuesday.

Karaoke with Spectra on Wednesdays at Streets Pub

Spectra is a musician, artist, and an avid fan of karaoke.

She is inviting the city to join her karaoke shenanigans, every Wednesday and Thursdays at 9:00 p.m.

On Wednesdays, you can find her at Streets Pub, a Black-owned bar, located on 1804 J Street. On Thursdays, Spectra will be singing her heart out at Faces Nightclub, located at 2000 K Street.

On Fridays and Saturdays, catch Spectra at Lighthouse Bar and Grill, on 2125 W Capitol Avenue in West Sacramento.
