Sac Black Biz: New website promotes Sacramento Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurs

A once-private Facebook community page called Sac Black Biz Community and Commerce, started in 2016, has since become public and has grown to over 9,000 members, allowing owners and entrepreneurs to connect with new clients and customers.

The Facebook page has since developed into its own website: www.sacblackbiz.biz.

The site’s founder, Chris Lodgson, is originally from New York, but after moving to Sacramento, he had a vision of connecting Black owned businesses to consumers. He said the new effort expands its reach, helping more people connect with Black-owned businesses and Black events in Sacramento.

“This is just another way for people to be able to connect with Black owned businesses,” said Lodgson. “This is really an expansion and I would even call it an evolution of what we are doing to connect people in Sacramento to Black businesses and events.”

Once visitors enter the site, they are encouraged to sign-up for free using their email address. Returning users should log-in to access the full site.

There are many different types of business listings in the online directory, which is searchable by business type.

It features 875 active businesses in the region from nearly 100 different categories of services, including tax services, food, farming, lounges, barbershops and hair salons.

There are also plenty of professionals, including legal services, doctors, dentists, life coaches and more.

Consumers can locate different businesses through the “#FindABiz” drop down section and entrepreneurs can feature their business on the website, for free, through the “#AddMyBiz” subsection.
