‘Black in Sac.’ Your weekly guide to Sacramento events at Black-owned venues, businesses
In our weekly edition of “BlackinSac,” we continue to promote a list of Sacramento events created, curated or influenced by Black and African-American residents.
This week we have entertaining stay-at-home options to go along with some of your favorite hangouts to frequent.

Remember that if you are stepping out to be responsible – dress warm, wear a mask and if you’re feeling under the weather, stay home. Always coordinate a designated driver if your outing will include alcohol or marijuana.
The Weeknd 103.5 Dawn FM
Grammy-award winning artist, Abel Tesfaye, better known by his recording name, The Weeknd, is broadcasting live from Los Angeles for 103.5 Dawn FM, providing a live stream experience.
The broadcast is set for Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. Viewers can watch the entire broadcast on the Amazon Music Twitch Channel.

Virtual Vigil for Democracy
It’s been a year since the attack on the Capitol as armed rioters tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election of President Joe Biden.
Jimmy Fremgren, candidate to represent Sacramento in Congress, is hosting a virtual candlelight vigil for democracy. He’s inviting Americans to come together to honor the bravery of individuals who fought for our democracy, such as Officer Eugene Goodman, a Capitol police officer who diverted armed groups from the Senate Chamber during the attack on Washington a year ago.
The virtual event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to attend, sign-ups are available through the link provided.
Silent Skate Party
It’s time to skate again and if you’re a fan of silent parties, Sacramento has a treat for you.
This Friday at Roller King Roller Rink is a Silent Skate Party, hosted by Sacramento DJs: GA, Daan, Fiji, Goofy Q, Yodeci, and Don P.
The event is open to ages 18 and up. It’s located at 889 Riverside Ave., from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Presale tickets are $18 and will increase to $25 at the door. You can purchase tickets, here, or on Eventbrite.
Tickets come with a pair of rental skates and headphones. You must bring a driver’s license, debit or credit card to exchange a pair of headphones. Upon leaving the event, items can be exchanged back.
My Urban Society Presents: R&B Lovers
My Urban Society hosts their Infusion Nights at The Odd Cookie Bakery Cafe and Bar, located at 1015 Ninth St., from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Every Friday is R&B Lovers night where you’ll enjoy a night of the greatest R&B hits of all-time. There will be a splash of hip-hop played.
Be sure to come dressed to impress, the attire is all-white. This is a free event for those on the guest list. The guest list closes at 11 p.m. To RSVP for the list, register on Eventbrite. There will be food and drink specials available, all night.
Tiger
Tiger, located at 722 K St., continually provides good vibes to the nightlife in Sacramento with their weekly lineup.
Starting with their “Purr” Thursdays, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
It’s the night for the girls featuring DJ sets by DJ Eddy, DJ Genetixx and DJ Jay. They will be mixing sounds featuring their theme night, “The Weeknd vs. Frank Ocean”.
Tiger hosts “Love” Fridays for the R&B music lovers. It will also include live music that features live music from Hayez, the band, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. and then DJ Abs1er will be mixing sounds in different sets throughout the night from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Saturday nights are HOF Night featuring music from Hayez, with DJ sets from DJ Robbie and DJ Eddy.
There will be a $20 cover charge after 11 p.m. VIP reservations are available. For more information, contact management at Tiger.
Higher Frequency
Higher Frequencies is an event that is focused on bringing together Sacramento’s music, art, fashion, and entrepreneurship all under one roof.
Tickets are on sale for $11.11 on Eventbrite, purchases can be made here. There will also be a $1 raffle for a chance to win items.
The event is Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m., located at Foreign Native, 3540 Third Ave.
The event will have a host of vendors such as Always Be About Something (ABAS), Skin Essentials by DG, Livin Colorz, Stanford Yacht Club and more.
Starting at 1:30 p.m., there will be performances by local artists, including The Philharmonik, Gabe IV and Kita Mahal.
Food will be provided by A New Kitchen.
R&B Sunday Skate
R&B Sunday Skate with DJ GA is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Roller King Roller Rink in Roseville at 889 Riverside Ave.
There is a $15 entry fee which will also cover skate rentals. Grab your friends and family and get your roll on with a Sunday vibe filled with rhythm and blues.

Naija Boy Ro Sham Beaux
The Naija Boy Taco Tuesday is a weekly event at Ro Sham Beaux, located at 2413 J St.
Rasheed Amedu is bringing West African flavor to Mexican cuisine every Tuesday. Amedu invites the city to dine and enjoy Naija vibes and natty wine from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
