Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today, Tuesday, March 3:
IHOP visiting weather: The weather is expected to be perfect for hopping on down to the International House of Pancakes for a free short stack today -- National Pancake Day. Maybe even some eggs, sunny side up. Sunny skies and light breezes are predicted for Sacramento. The high is forecast to peak at around 67 degrees.
Cheap gas is so last month: If it seems gas prices are soaring, it’s not your imagination. The average retail price in the Sacramento area spiked 40.5 cents over the past week to $3.18 a gallon according to Gasbuddy.com. Prices are still lower than a year ago, however.
Another leg to stand on: Hobbes the terrier mix can do a lot, for a dog with three legs. He can climb stairs, graze the backyard and jump roughly four feet in the air – more than high enough to clamber onto the bed with his owner, Andrea Bledsoe. Even so, Bledsoe and a few of her fellow UC Davis graduate students are determined to give him a fourth leg.
‘Priced out’: With millions of dollars in upscale developments beginning to surround its R Street location, the New Helvetia Theatre Co. says it’s going dark because it’s been “priced out of our current venue by new ownership.” Its most recent production was a 10-performance run in December of “Marry Me a Little.”
Yolo mom on file: Yolo County says its social services office has files on Samantha Green and her infant son, Justice Rees, who was found dead last week in a slough. Green faces arraignment tomorrow morning.
