Carmichael man dies after SUV hits parked truck and overturns onto its side, CHP says

A driver was killed after his SUV collided with a parked pickup truck Thursday morning in Carmichael, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded just before 7 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash on Sutter Avenue near Fair Oaks Boulevard, with reports of an unresponsive male driver in a vehicle that had been overturned onto its side, according to a news release by the CHP North Sacramento Office.

The driver, a 54-year-old Carmichael man, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox on westbound Sutter Avenue when it struck a Ford F-150 parked along the curb, CHP said.

The Chevrolet tipped sideways and remained there until Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel arrived. The driver was pronounced dead at 7:18 a.m., according to the news release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with witnesses remaining on scene and cooperating with authorities.

The victim will be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

Anyone with additional information regarding the incident is urged to contact the CHP North Sacramento office at 916-348-2300.
