Teen killed in West Sacramento shooting; another man wounded by likely stray bullet
The West Sacramento Police Department is investigating a Friday night shooting that killed a 17-year-old boy and may have wounded another man several houses away.
According to spokesman Sgt. Eric Angle, officers were called to a trailer at Westwind Estates on the 1200 block of Sacramento Avenue at 11:55 p.m. for a man in his mid-20s with a gunshot wound. One minute later, according to Angle, a second call for service was made for a shooting that occurred at Todhunter Avenue and Somerset Drive, about one block from the trailer park. Police arrived at the second call and found the teen with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. The wounded male, 26, suffered injuries that are deemed non-life threatening.
Angle said that detectives are reviewing the incident and believe both victims could be from the same shooting. However, police have yet to identify a suspect or motive.
The shooting in West Sacramento happened four months after 16-year-old Samantha Farris of Citrus Heights was shot and killed near River City High School in what police described as a marijuana deal gone wrong. Two teens face murder and second-degree robbery, as well as attempted murder of another teen in the incident.
