Oroville man dies after utility truck drifts off Interstate 80 in Vacaville, CHP says

A 19-year-old Oroville man driving a utility truck was killed Friday morning when his vehicle drifted off Interstate 80 in Vacaville and crashed into a large sign post.

The fatal crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. on Interstate 80, just east of East Monte Vista Avenue and near the interchange with Interstate 505, according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol’s Solano office.

The CHP said the Oroville man was driving a white Ford F-350 utility truck west on I-80 at an unknown speed when the truck drifted onto the right shoulder of the road and crashed into the sign post.

Investigators did not know why the vehicle drifted off the road. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers asked anyone with information about the crash to call the CHP Solano office at 707-428-2100.
