Rooftop decks and home offices: More modern housing planned for downtown Sacramento
The historic neighborhood on the northern edge of downtown Sacramento is about to get more high-end housing.
SKK Developments, a firm that has been busy constructing new apartments and town homes around the central city, is proposing to build 16 three-story townhouses on the southeast corner of 13th and C streets in the Mansion Flats neighborhood of downtown.
The homes, part of what’s being called the 13C Townhomes project, would be offered at market rate and would be between 1,800 and 1,907 square feet, according to documents filed with the city of Sacramento.
The homes would have rooftop decks and second-floor balconies. A “flex” space on the homes’ ground floor could be used as home offices or workshops, according to the application.
A vacant building most recently occupied by an air conditioning business will be torn down to make way for the townhouses. Another modern housing development called Icon @14C was recently built on the same block.
The neighborhoods near and along the 16th Street corridor have become a development hot spot. SKK recently filed plans to build a seven-story apartment building at 16th and J streets and has spearheaded other nearby projects, including the 95-unit Eleanor Apartments at 16th and E streets and H16, another apartment building at 16th and H streets.
