Expect delays during weekend Caltrans closure of westbound Highway 160 in Sacramento

Drivers in Sacramento should expect delays this weekend as Caltrans closes the westbound lanes of Highway 160 starting Friday night for an extended period because of road construction.

The westbound lanes of Highway 160 west of the Del Paso Boulevard on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the California Department of Transportation.

The 55-hour road closure is needed for seismic retrofit work on the North Sacramento undercrossing, including replacing the bridge deck, Caltrans officials said.

Crews will close these ramps during the roadwork this weekend:

Connector ramp from westbound Business 80 (Capital City Freeway) to WB SR-160

Northbound Arden Way loop on-ramp to SR-160

Southbound Arden Way on-ramp to SR-160

Royal Oaks Drive to SR-160

Expo Parkway South (From Canterbury Road) to SR-160

Exit 46B off-ramp from eastbound SR-160 to Del Paso Boulevard

Drivers in North Sacramento and the Arden Way area should plan for additional travel time this weekend. Caltrans encouraged drivers to use this detour: Head north on Arden Way to Northgate Boulevard and continue west on Capital City Freeway (Business 80) to get to downtown Sacramento.
