Yuba City resident dies, another person hurt as vehicle overturns in Oroville-area field

A Yuba City man died Friday after being ejected from his vehicle while driving in a field outside Oroville, the California Highway Patrol said.

The 38-year-old man was driving a 2014 Polaris at 11:25 p.m. in a field in the area of Power House Hill Road, west of Highway 70. When he tried to make a turn, according to the CHP, the vehicle overturned and the man and his passenger were thrown out in the crash.

They were taken to a hospital, where the driver died of his injuries. The passenger suffered moderate injuries.

“This collision is still under investigation and it’s unknown if alcohol or drugs may have played a factor,” the CHP Oroville-area office stated.
