Forward progress stopped for 120-acre grass fire near Dunnigan in north Yolo County

Cal Fire crews on Friday afternoon stopped forward progress of a grass fire that had quickly burned 120 acres in northern Yolo County just southwest of Interstate 5.

The Dunnigan Fire was was burning in the area of the 24000 block of County Road 11, just southwest of the town of Dunnigan, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit. By 6:30 p.m., the grass fire was fully contained.

Cal Fire crews were at the scene of the wildfire and advising motorists in the area to use caution and give way to emergency vehicles.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning that remains in effect through 8 p.m. Friday for strong wind that can fuel a fire. The warning was issued for a broad swath of the Central Valley from Redding to Modesto.
